Sam Connew grows her own Riesling on the Palisander vineyard, in Coal River Valley, TAS.
It's an exciting development for Sam and her brand, now having viticultural control over her fruit. The first few releases have been excellent.
The thumbprint of Tasmanian terroir shines through, but there's possibly more joy to had in this wine in its youth than usual. Sam works lovely texture into the wine, utilising a touch of skin contact, some lees stirring and a dab of sweetness to allow the wine to find balance in its youth.
This is a classy Riesling with a generous personality.
